Weather in Nepal

Heavy to hefty rainfall is expected in the western region of Nepal, from Lumbini to Far West, until the morning of September 14th. The Weather Forecasting Division issued a special bulletin on Wednesday, warning of the impending downpour.

The monsoon has been particularly active in the region since Wednesday night, with districts like Palpa, Dang, Banke, Bardia, Kailali, Dadeldhura, Kanchanpur, and others experiencing significant rainfall. The division has classified Bardia, Surkhet, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Dadeldhura, Doti, Baitadi, and Achham as high-risk areas due to the anticipated heavy rainfall.

According to Govind Jha, a meteorologist with the department, the monsoon low-pressure system over Madhya Pradesh in India is likely to intensify and move towards the northwest, bringing increased rainfall to western Nepal. While the monsoon’s effects are felt nationwide, the western region is expected to bear the brunt of the heavy downpour.

Kathmandu Valley Also Faces Rain Threat

While the special bulletin primarily focused on the western region, the weather forecast division has also indicated a possibility of rainfall in Kathmandu Valley on Thursday. Light to moderate rain is expected in the afternoon, primarily due to cloud accumulation in Sindhupalchok and Kavre districts.

Besides the high-risk districts in the west, 19 districts from Madhesh to Sudurpaschim are under medium risk. These include Bara, Parsa, Chitwan, Nawalparasi East, Syangja, Tanahun, Arghakhanchi, Rupandehi, Palpa, Kapilvastu, Nawalparasi West, Dang, Banke, Dailekh, Kalikot, Salyan, Darchula, Bajhang, and Bajura.
