Heavy rainfall is expected in parts of Nepal over the next few days, according to the Weather Forecasting Division. Monsoon winds are currently affecting the country, with low-pressure lines located near Sardar.
The division has warned about heavy rain in one or two places in Koshi, Madhesh, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces this afternoon. Koshi, Madhesh, and Gandaki provinces may also experience heavy rainfall tonight.
Meteorologists attribute the ongoing rain to the monsoon air mass and the recent impact of a cyclone developed in the Bay of Bengal. Although the cyclone’s direct influence has subsided, the monsoon continues to bring rain to the country.
The intensity of monsoon activity is expected to increase after noon today and throughout the night. The division has advised residents to be cautious and prepared for potential flooding and other weather-related hazards.
The monsoon season in Nepal is expected to last until October 2. However, meteorologists predict that rainfall will gradually decrease in the second week of September.
