Nepal’s weather patterns are shifting as the monsoon system takes hold in the eastern part of the country. The Department of Weather Forecasting reports that while the rest of the nation experiences a mix of local air, westerly air, and influence from a low-pressure system in India’s Bihar state, the east is already under the monsoon’s influence.
Today, expect partly cloudy to mostly clear skies in the hilly regions of Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces. The remaining areas will be partly cloudy. However, there’s a chance of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in a few locations across the hilly areas, including those in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. Even Madhesh province might see rain in a couple of places.
The partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies will persist in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces throughout the weekend. The rest of the country can expect mostly clear skies. Scattered showers with thunder and lightning remain a possibility in some parts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, with a slight chance for rain in a few areas of the remaining regions, including Madhesh province.
