The monsoon season is picking up steam in Nepal, with its influence now reaching most parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and the eastern region of Lumbini. The remaining areas are experiencing a mix of local winds and westerlies.
Currently, skies are mostly clear in Koshi Province, while the rest of the affected regions see partly cloudy conditions. There are scattered reports of light rain with thunder and lightning in Gandaki Province, with isolated occurrences in Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati Provinces.
This afternoon, expect partly cloudy to mostly clear skies across the monsoon-impacted provinces (Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini). However, there’s a chance of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some areas of these regions. Isolated rain is also possible in Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces. Notably, Koshi Province has an increased chance of experiencing heavy rain in one or two locations.
Tonight, things are expected to get cloudier across the board, with generally cloudy skies forecast for Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini. The rest of the country will likely remain partly cloudy. Scattered rain with thunder and lightning is still a possibility, with some areas in all the aforementioned provinces (Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini) potentially seeing rain.
Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces might also experience isolated rain showers. Keep an eye out for the possibility of heavy rain in isolated locations within the Koshi and Gandaki Provinces.
