On Sunday, eleven mules were rescued after being trapped on a suspension bridge over the Karnali River. The incident occurred on the bridge connecting Achham’s Panchadeval Binayak Municipality (Ward No. 9) and Dailekh’s Aathbis Municipality (Ward No. 4).

Chief District Officer Ganesh Prasad Koirala confirmed the rescue with the help of security personnel and residents. Sadly, two mules did not survive the ordeal. Rescuers were forced to cut the bridge’s wire mesh to free some trapped animals, causing them to fall into the river below.

The incident unfolded earlier today when the mules, on their way to Rakam market in Dailekh from Panchadeval, became stuck after a bridge log snapped on one side. This resulted in a temporary closure of the bridge, impacting both districts. Teams from the police and armed police forces from both Achham and Dailekh collaborated on the rescue effort.
