A tragic day in Dhankuta saw one person lose their life and three others injured in separate road accidents.
In the first incident, a 40-year-old local resident, Baliman Rai, died after falling from a tractor in Sahidbhumi Rural Municipality-6. The accident occurred at around 3 AM on Wednesday as the tractor was traveling from Chintang to Hile. Rai sustained fatal injuries when the tractor wheel ran over him. The tractor driver, Dipraj Rai, has been apprehended by the police.
Simultaneously, a car carrying employees of Pakhribas Commercial Agricultural Research Program met with an accident in Dhankuta Municipality-4. The vehicle veered off the road and plunged approximately 25 meters downhill. The incident took place around 2:20 PM while the employees were en route to a meeting at the District Administration Office. Fortunately, the three occupants, including the driver Manish Kumar Thakur, escaped with minor injuries.
Local authorities are investigating both accidents.
