Two Arrested in Butwal with 5 Million Worth of Gold

Butwal: Rupandehi Police have arrested two individuals in Butwal for allegedly smuggling gold worth nearly Rs. 5 million.

The arrested suspects have been identified as 33-year-old Akbar Ali Miya of Kapilvastu Wainganga Municipality-8 and 37-year-old Santosh Sunar, the manager of an Arghakhanchi gold and silver shop.

A joint team from Area Police Office Butwal and Ward Police Office Butwal apprehended the duo based on a tip-off regarding gold smuggling on a bus (Lu 2 Kha 6542) traveling from Krishnanagar, Kapilvastu to Kathmandu.

During a vehicle inspection in Ramnagar, Butwal, authorities seized 29 tola 58.1 grams of gold, valued at approximately Rs. 49.54 lakh. The recovered gold, in biscuit form, and the arrested individuals have been handed over to the Revenue Investigation Office Butwal for further investigation.
