Kerabari, Morang: A tragic incident occurred in Kerabari Rural Municipality-8 on Thursday, as two young boys drowned in a pit created by the Krishna Crusher. The victims, 6-year-old Ram Charan and 10-year-old Bhupen were the sons of Toyanath Chaulagain, a local resident.
The deep pit, which had formed due to recent stone removal operations, posed a danger to the community. Despite the risk, the crusher operators failed to take necessary precautions to prevent accidents. This negligence has led to widespread outrage among the people of Kerabari.
The bodies of the two children were recovered from the pit and sent to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for a post-mortem examination. However, tensions arose when locals prevented the removal of Bhupen’s body, demanding a thorough investigation into the incident.
Morang Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Karki stated that while it is believed the children drowned while swimming in the pit, further investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to their deaths. He also noted that the boys’ father works at the same crusher.
This tragic incident has highlighted the need for stricter safety measures and regulations in the industrial sector. The local community is demanding justice for the two young boys and calling for accountability from the responsible parties.
