Tragedy strikes Morang as two drownings reported in separate incidents. One in Letang Pond, and another in Sukhani River in Katahari.
Bhakta Bahadur Limbu Drowns in Letang Pond
In Letang Municipality-2, 59-year-old Bhakta Bahadur Limbu from Kerabari rural municipality-9 lost his life after drowning in a pond built by the community for collecting water. The pond, located within the Garapani Community Forest, was designed to be 40 feet long and 30 feet wide and serve as a water source for wildlife. According to Gyanendra Bahadur Basnet, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and spokesperson for the Morang police, Limbu drowned while bathing in the pond on Sunday evening.
Missing Child Found Deceased in Sukhani River
In a separate incident, the body of a missing child was discovered in the Sukhani River located in Katahari, Morang. Seven-year-old Preeti Jhagad, daughter of Dharma Jhagad from Katahari Rural Municipality-5, had been reported missing from her home since 3 pm on Sunday. Sadly, her body was later found drowned in the river.
Police Investigate Both Incidents
The Morang police department has confirmed that investigations are currently underway into both drowning incidents.
