Rukum West: Two people were tragically swept away by the Ramma River in Musikot Municipality on Sunday evening. The victims, identified as Nirmala KC Thapa (30) and Sarjan Pun (50), were riding a motorcycle when they were caught in the floodwaters.
The incident occurred near the border of Ward No. 6 and 7 of Musikot Municipality. According to local authorities, the motorcycle, bearing the registration number RA 6 PA 2961, was being driven by Nirmala.
Search and rescue efforts were launched immediately following the incident. The bodies of the victims were recovered on Monday morning. Sarjan Pun’s body was found crushed under the motorcycle, while Nirmala Thapa’s body was discovered approximately 300 meters downstream.
The bodies have been transported to the district headquarters for a post-mortem examination and subsequent handover to the families.
