Two Yarsagumba Collectors dead in Mugu

Two Yarsagumba collectors have died after falling ill due to altitude sickness at Thulo Patan Koiki in Mugu district.

The victims, identified as 29-year-old Man Bahadur Budha from Shobha village and Shobhan Budha from Kampha village, both of Chhayanath Rara Municipality-12, reportedly succumbed to altitude sickness.

Armed Police Constable Tilak Badhuwal informed authorities in Mugu village about the deaths via phone.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Birendra Thapa of the Mugu District Police Office confirmed the incident. He added that a third collector, Raj Bahadur Sawat of Kampha village, also fell ill at Patan and is in critical condition. Efforts are underway to bring him to Mugu village for treatment.

This news comes just a year after an avalanche tragically claimed the lives of three Yarsagumba collectors and one died due to falling in the same area.

Mugum Karmarong Rural Municipality opened access to over 24 Yarsagumba collection areas in Mugu on May 7th of this year.
