US and Allies Urge Citizens to Leave Lebanon

The US has urged its citizens to leave Lebanon immediately due to escalating tensions in the Middle East. The US Embassy in Beirut has made this announcement, advising Americans to depart as soon as possible.

According to the BBC, British Foreign Minister David Lammy has also advised UK citizens to consider leaving Lebanon. He warned that the situation in the region could worsen rapidly.

Similarly, the Jordanian Foreign Minister has issued a warning, asking Jordanians to leave Lebanon immediately.

This follows the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on Wednesday. In response, Iran has vowed to retaliate against Israel, further heightening tensions in the Middle East.

Haniyeh’s death occurred just hours after Israel announced the killing of Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukar in Beirut. In retaliation, Hezbollah launched several rockets at Beit Hillel in northern Israel on Sunday night, according to the BBC. Videos posted on social media show the air defense system intercepting the missiles, though there is no information on any damage caused.

In anticipation of further developments, many airlines have suspended flights, and tickets for existing flights have been completely sold out.

On Friday, an announcer on Iran’s state television warned of an “extraordinary scene in the world.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has told his citizens that “challenging days are ahead,” assuring them that Israel is prepared for any scenario amid numerous threats.
