Mixed weather patterns are sweeping across Nepal today, as the interaction of western and local winds brings both cloud cover and the chance of rain to some regions. The Weather Forecasting Division reports that most of the country will experience mostly clear skies, while the hilly areas, including Koshi Province, will see partly cloudy conditions.
This afternoon, residents of select hilly areas in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces should brace themselves for a chance of light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Additionally, the higher reaches of these regions may experience a touch of winter as light snowfall is predicted for some high hilly and Himalayan areas.
The weather pattern remains dynamic into the evening. Areas within the hilly regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces may experience some additional light rain with thunder and lightning. The Division also forecasts a chance of light snowfall tonight in a few elevated areas within these provinces.
While the weather may feel a bit unsettled, this mixed pattern is a typical sign of Nepal’s diverse climate. The interaction of localized weather with larger systems brings both sunshine and showers as the seasons shift.
