Several regions of Nepal, including Koshi, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim, are experiencing light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning today. This widespread weather pattern is attributed to the combined influence of western winds, local winds, and a low-pressure system near Bihar, India.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division predicts that afternoon showers, accompanied by thunder, lightning, and gusty winds, will continue in some hilly areas, particularly in Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Additionally, light snowfall is anticipated in higher altitudes of the Himalayas.
Tonight, the country can expect partly to mostly cloudy skies with intermittent rain, thunder, and lightning in Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, and sporadically in other areas. High-altitude regions may also experience light snowfall.
Over the next 24 hours, light rain with thunder and lightning is expected throughout the country, along with the possibility of snowfall in the higher Himalayan regions. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology advises caution as this weather may impact daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, and transportation.
